Dear Midtown Customers,

We are sad to say we are in the process of closing this Smörgås Midtown location.
High costs of operation and a weaker economy is making it difficult for us to sustain operations. We are searching for an alternative location for our next Smörgås Chef and in the meantime we hope you will visit our new Park Avenue location nearby (58 Park Ave. on 38th Street) featuring the same great food and exciting new atmosphere, click Scandinavia House link above.

Anchored by the United Nations Headquarters and the Chrysler Building, the restaurant engages with a very diverse and international community of professionals and residents. Perched on the corner of 49th Street and Second Avenue, this location has an unobtrusive, intimate bistro feel.

Smorgas Chef offers wonderful and reasonably prices wines, many of them by the glass.

On any given day you might see visiting ambassadors (or royalty!) from various countries dining at the table next to you. Neighborhood regulars love this Smorgas location, because it offers a warm and exciting experience in this part of the city. Smorgas Chef Midtown also features a popular wrap-around outdoor terrace, and is famous for having an exceptional prix-fixe brunch menu and three-course prix-fixe dinners.

Guest return over and over again for this signature dish: Entrecote Steak with citrus and herb sauce.
